Achieving HIA GreenSmart accreditation in 2008 was one of our first significant steps. This industry leading initiative is recognised as the only program of its kind in Australia that provides an overarching response to the construction and promotion of environmentally responsible housing. It demonstrates our clear commitment to being an eco-builder of choice by providing sustainable energy efficient solutions.
The UrbanGreen concept
Whilst all Urbanedge homes achieve the accepted 6-star energy rating, our new eco-friendly home range, UrbanGreen, takes sustainability to the next level by making use of the latest in energy efficient and environmentally sustainable principles. The UrbanGreen range combines standout design with environmental excellence to achieve a minimum 7-star rating or higher.
Achieving this rating involves advances in proper solar orientation; insulation; cross-ventilation; thermal mass; window sizing, placement and shading; solar water heating; appliance efficiency; water conservation; rain water collection; efficiency in water use; and healthy building design.
